Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary Circulator during surgical procedures, overseeing patient safety and maintaining aseptic technique throughout operations
- Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all necessary equipment, supplies, and documentation are ready prior to surgery
- Assist with patient assessment and positioning, ensuring comfort and safety during procedures
- Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses continuously, responding swiftly to any changes or emergencies
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical techs to facilitate efficient workflow and optimal patient care
- Document all aspects of the surgical process accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner
- Manage intraoperative communication and coordinate with anesthesia providers for airway management, medication administration, and specimen collection
Skills
- Proven experience working in operating rooms with strong knowledge of aseptic technique and sterile processing protocols
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic and Cerner for accurate medical documentation
- Skilled in patient assessment, vital signs monitoring, and emergency response procedures within an acute care or hospital environment
- Knowledgeable about surgical instrumentation, suturing techniques, and intraoperative equipment management
- Experience supporting diverse specialties such as ophthalmology, cardiology (including catheterization), trauma medicine (Level I & II Trauma Centers), critical care units (ICU/PICU), and outpatient surgery centers
- Proficient in medication administration, IV infusion management, airway management, and specimen collection/processing
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations with excellent communication skills and teamwork orientation
