GENERAL SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse is accountable for the management of patient care during a designated time frame. The responsibilities include coordination and evaluation of care, teaching and delegation of patient activities to the other health care team members via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, and the environment.

PERFORMANCE DUTIES MAY INCLUDE

Performs assessment data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner.

Completes, reviews and evaluates data collected by caregivers.

Develops a plan of care and identifies patient/family learning needs implementing the appropriate process from admission to discharge.

Performs documentation in patient record, which is timely, accurate, and concise (signs and symptoms, lab data, and patient care plan). This is to happen either in writing or electronically, depending upon requirements.

Initiates, delegates and ensures completion of the interventions necessary to accomplish patient outcomes.

Provides clinical direction to staff and evaluates the level of care.

Demonstrates ability to utilize critical thinking to identify problems, solutions, and implementation solutions.

Designs patient teaching strategies.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Licensure: Graduation from a school of nursing that results in the ability of the graduate to sit for the NCLEX exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse.

If current Registered Nurse(RN), licensed in the State of Michigan.

Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
