Position Purpose
The Pulmonary Function Tech will assist with the overall functioning of the pulmonary department.
What You Will Do
- Perform routine function tests according to protocols established by the ATS including PFTs, DLCO, FRC, (with and without bronchodilators) Methacholine Challenge tests, and oximetry both at rest and with exercise
- Explain and demonstrate testing and instructs patients in testing procedures to ensure patient’s best effort
- Provide first level trouble shooting for pulmonary function equipment and perform quality control procedures on pulmonary testing equipment to ensure proper operation and integrity of test results
- Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy and/or certification as a Pulmonary Function Technologist
- 1 to 2 years respiratory therapy experience as an RRT in hospital or physician office, and/or a minimum of 6 months to 2 years of experience as a pulmonary function technologist
- Proficiency with pulmonary function testing and equipment
