What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Coding Supervisor position at Trinity Health Of New England?
Position Purpose:
Provides direct day-to-day leadership of professional medical coding team for simple and complex coding. Provides guidance and supervision to ensure services rendered are coded and charged properly.
What you will do:
Supervises the work of assigned regional staff including the monitoring of competencies. Develops with manager goals and objectives, conducts annual performance appraisals and the utilization of performance resolution process when needed including but not limited to performance enhancement plans, corrective actions, etc.
Assists with complex coding technical and business issues and aligns action plans with local and Trinity goals and objectives.
Reviews and responds to various quality reports, including reports that identify missing charges, duplicate charges, late charges, etc. Maintains and updates required reference logs and other reporting tools. May create and present information for decision making purposes.
Works collaboratively with the THMG Professional Billing, Auditor, and Educator team and manager on results of the regional coding team audits and develops recommendations for continued coding accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM (ICD-9-CM) and HCPCS level II coding guidelines, along with CCI edits and Medicare claims processing manual contents in a multi-facility, integrated health care delivery system or revenue cycle or consulting experience
Associate degree in related field
A minimum of three (3) years of professional coding experience or equivalent combination of education and professional coding experience.
