Purpose
The Grants Specialist is the coordination and compliance backbone of the regional grants function.
Responsible and active in end-to-end grants development.
As a Grants Specialist You Will
- Develop/manage grant tracking system showing grant opportunities 1) upcoming, 2) acceptance routing, 3) in development, 4) submitted (pending)
- Develops/manage accepted grants financial summary showing 1) award amounts/dates, 2) length of grant cycle, 3) payments/payment schedules, 4) colleague draw downs, 5) funds remaining
- Develop/manage file library of all grant-related documents
- Conduct co-research to identify grant opportunities
- Summarize funder requirements, deadlines, eligibility, document requirements, grant dollar range, payment structure (cash advance/reimbursement), match, use of funds restrictions, reporting, etc. so internal program/project partners can quickly understand opportunities
- Develop support relationships with external and internal partners in the grants process including grantors and program/project colleagues
- Coordinate/assemble all non-narrative components of grant submissions
- Coordinate submissions of amendments and changes 1) budget revisions, 2) scope adjustments, 3) timeline extensions
- Flag compliance risks
- Coordinate timely collection of report requirements for submission and drafts reports
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public health, nonprofit management, business, healthcare administration, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Required Work Experience: 3–5 years of grant development and management experience, including demonstrated success securing and managing awards.
- Strong writing, editing, analytical, and project management skills.
- Experience preparing grant budgets, financial reports, and compliance documentation.
- Knowledge of federal and state grant processes; familiarity with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across local and regional functions.
