Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is looking for a Cytotechnologist to join our team!
Schedule: Part-time, day shifts
Prepares, stains, mounts, and studies cells of the human body to detect evidence of cancer, abnormalities, and other pathological conditions, following established standards and guidelines. Prepares and examines microscopic slides from specimens of blood, scrapings, or other bodily exudates. Fixes and stains the slides to preserve specimen and enhance visibility of cells under the microscope. Works closely with the pathologist to report abnormalities.

Job Responsibilities
- Works to produce lab tests in an efficient organized manner.
- Actively adheres to the department’s STAT protocol.
- Is skilled at assigning appropriate priority to samples received.
- Microscopically screens all slides, submitting appropriate slides to the pathologist for review.
- Ensures that all technical and administrative duties relevant to Cytology are performed in accordance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Recognizes the importance of accurate patient identification and specimen labeling and adheres to the Laboratory Patient Identification Policy and Specimen Re-Labeling Policy.
- Prepares solutions and reagents used in conducting tests.
- Efficiently and accurately performs assigned analytical testing using independent judgment as appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned/required by manager.
- Bachelor's Degree
- CT (ASCP) or eligible or equivalent credentials
