Job Summary:
Trinity Glass International values empowerment, teamwork, integrity, diversity, and growth. The Shipping Supervisor leads day-to-day shipping and dock operations for the Ramsey, Minnesota site. This role plans labor, assigns work, and ensures finished goods ship safely, accurately, and on schedule. The Shipping Supervisor partners with Production, Quality, Customer Service, and carriers to maintain an organized dock and to resolve shipment issues quickly. The role includes hands-on support as needed, including operating sit-down and reach forklifts.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Supervise the shipping team's daily work, including staging, loading, paperwork, and carrier check-in.
- Plan staffing and coverage to meet shipping schedules; adjust priorities based on production output and customer commitments.
- Assign work, set expectations, and coach employees to meet safety, quality, and productivity targets.
- Review and complete shipping documentation such as bills of lading (BOL), packing lists, labels, and freight paperwork.
- Verify shipment accuracy (item, quantity, packaging, labeling, and securement) and reduce damage, shortages, and rework.
- Coordinate pickups with carriers and communicate shipment status, delays, and issues to internal partners.
- Maintain shipping records in company systems and support audit and traceability requirements.
- Enforce safe work practices, including forklift safety, PPE, housekeeping, and dock traffic control; report and follow up on hazards.
- Support equipment readiness by reporting issues, coordinating repairs, and completing required daily inspections.
- Drive continuous improvement in shipping processes, space utilization, and organization.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise shipping employees and temporary staff, as applicable.
- Approve timecards and ensure accurate timekeeping.
- Provide training, performance feedback, and coaching; document performance concerns.
- Partner with the Plant General Manager and HR on employee relations, corrective action, and attendance issues.
- Maintaining internal external dock areas for efficient operations and organization of tools, materials and records shipping dock
- Participate in hiring decisions and make recommendations on staffing, scheduling, and training needs.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Working knowledge of warehouse/shipping operations and dock workflow.
- Experience leading or coordinating a team in a shipping, warehouse, or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and complete shipping documents and maintain accurate records.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to resolve issues with urgency and professionalism.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel) and comfort using ERP/WMS or data-entry systems.
- Forklift experience, including sit-down and reach trucks; ability to obtain and maintain company-required certification.

Education and Experience:

Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain, or a related field.
- Experience with carrier scheduling, LTL/FTL shipments, and freight claims or damage documentation.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment and familiarity with safe material handling for fragile products.
- Knowledge of Lean/continuous improvement tools (5S, standard work, visual management).
Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed in a manufacturing/warehouse environment with moving equipment, forklift traffic, and varying temperatures.
- Frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, stooping, and reaching.
- Frequent use of hands/wrists for scanning, labeling, and paperwork.
- Lift and carry up to 20 pounds individually; heavier items moved with assistance or mechanical equipment, as applicable.
- Ability to work a schedule aligned to production and shipping needs, including occasional extended hours.
