What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Counselor position at Trinity Equestrian Center?
What is the Youth Counseling Program?
Trinity Youth Counseling is a positive, one-on-one, client centered, strength focused, and goal oriented mental health service for young people. Our Youth Counselors work with program participants in the community providing them with a variety of ways to work on and achieve their goals!
What kind of kids are in Youth Counseling?
In Youth Counseling, we work with young people ranging in age from 5-18. We most commonly work with children who have experienced trauma, have mental health diagnoses, and/or experience developmental delays and disorders.
We provide training and support to help Youth Counselors feel confident working with the incredible children in our programs.
What does being a Youth Counselor look like?
Each Youth Counselor is matched with a young person and communicates directly with the child’s caregiver. The Youth Counselor picks up the young person, has activities planned that work on their goals in a fun and engaging way. The Youth Counselor then drops off the young person at the designated spot and documents how their time was spent, what goals were worked on, and the level of progress seen. We strive for each session to be positive, strength focused and goal-oriented!
What eligibility requirements do we have for Youth Counselors?
1. A reliable vehicle and current insurance
2. Be available to work 10 hours minimum per week
3. Ability to communicate professionally
4. Commitment to working with a young person for 6 months
5. Be willing to submit to and pass a caregiver background check as required by the State of Wisconsin
6. Passion to work alongside Trinity to change young people's lives!
Do I need to have a degree to become a Trinity Youth Counselor?
No! Youth Counseling is not therapy. We hire a variety of people with different education levels and experience! Pay is $18-30/hour based on relevant degree and experience.
Which Trinity Youth Development programs are open for youth counselor candidates?
Our Youth Development programs are described on our website www.trinity-ec.com. Trinity has openings in Community Connections and Youth Counseling programs. After-school workshops are currently staffed for the Fall/Winter but may have openings in Spring 2026.
Anything else you should know about the Youth Counseling Program?
Yes! Trinity works hard to provide youth with a supportive and consistent experience that allows them to progress toward their goals. To achieve this, we ask that all Youth Counselors commit to a minimum of 6 months working with a participant. In addition, we ask that Youth Counselors applying for this position are comfortable working independently, managing their own schedules, and planning goal focused activities.
We are excited about the work we do at Trinity and hope you are excited as well. Our team is available to answer any questions or address any hesitations you might have. For the respect and privacy of our clients, please do not enter the Trinity Equestrian Center premises without a scheduled appointment. Email your completed application and resume to Hiring@Trinity-EC.com.
