What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse position at TRINITY EPISCOPAL SCHOOL?
Trinity Episcopal School is currently seeking two part-time, 12-month School Nurses to join our community starting May 1, 2026. These essential roles report to the Chief of Staff and are dedicated to safeguarding the health and well-being of our students and staff. Responsibilities include providing direct clinical care, managing electronic medical records via Magnus Health, and providing health services oversight for both on-campus athletic events and the Trinity Extended Day (TED) after-school program. As key members of the Administrative Operations team, the nurses also assist the Front Office and uphold the school's mission, values, and policies.
Essential Responsibilities include the following:
Students
- Provide daily nursing care, including assessment and treatment of illness or injury
- Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate emergency response procedures
- Provides first aid and administers non-prescription and prescribed medications in accordance with physician orders, parental consent, and school policy
- Document visits in Magnus Health - treatments and medication administration
- Completes student and employee injury reports as necessary
Campus-wide Health and Safety
- Support emergency preparedness planning, including first aid protocols and medical response procedures
- Oversee and facilitate school compliance with all state regulations and mandates
- Advise school leadership on health-related policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Communicating with physicians and the health department to stay updated on the latest developments
- Staying current with CDC and NCDHHS required and recommended policies
- Create, communicate, and facilitate all medical policies and procedures to students, faculty, and parents
- Guidance on communicable disease prevention and managing outbreaks in coordination with local health authorities.
- Prepare and submit schoolwide notifications, health topics, or policies to the Director of Marketing & Communications
- Prepare teachers and students for overnight trips by providing medical forms and packing first aid kits
- Assist with health and safety policies for field trips, athletics, and school events
- Maintain and order proper supplies in the health room
Medical Records & Compliance
- Collect and manage electronic student medical records through Magnus Health
- Collects, reviews, and maintains immunizations records of all students as required by North Carolina State law
- Manage compliance and tracking student medical forms
- Maintain accurate, confidential student health records in compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, and state regulations
- Provide immunization records as requested for students enrolling in other schools
- Coordinating CPR certification for all staff and faculty
Administrative Support Responsibilities:
- Receive students, visitors, guests, faculty, and staff in a friendly, courteous manner, and be aware that demeanor is a reflection of the School as a welcoming and inclusive community
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of desk, front office area, and lobby
- Ensure security by directing campus visitors to sign in/out and wear a visitor badge
- Answer incoming calls to the School and direct callers to the appropriate personnel
- Answer questions regarding school events or other business
- Take messages when necessary and deliver them in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience
- Registered Nurse with at least 2 years professional experience
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Continuing education to remain current with best professional practices
- School Nurse experienced preferred, but not required

- Proficiency in Google Suite including Sheets, Docs, Gmail, and Calendar
