Senior Air Quality Specialist

About the Company

Trinity Consultants’ Monitoring Services team is hiring a Senior Air Quality Specialist to install, maintain, and troubleshoot ambient air quality and meteorological monitoring networks for clients across the country. This is a hands-on, field-first role for someone who takes pride in precise, defensible data. You’ll work directly with clients, travel to active monitoring sites, and be trusted to make real-time calls on equipment and data quality.

About the Role

Hybrid role based between the office and the field; ability to travel 2–5 days a week (transportation provided or compensated). Monday–Friday schedule; occasional weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct onsite installation, startup, and commissioning of meteorological and ambient air quality monitoring equipment.
• Draw upon hands-on technical experience to perform analyzer maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibrations at remote monitoring sites, minimizing downtime and data loss.
• Collect and operate time-integrated samples, and provide proper chain-of-custody documentation to analytical laboratories.
• Apply practical field experience to support the design, integration, and build-out of ambient air quality monitoring systems.
• Maintain current audit and calibration certifications, and apply working knowledge of EPA and state monitoring protocols in the field.
• Provide QA of air quality audit and calibration reports.
• Review incoming data with an experienced eye to proactively flag instrumentation issues before they affect data quality.
• Provide proper documentation and record keeping for all air quality systems and network servicing and auditing.
• Provide meteorological sensor and air quality instrument calibration, maintenance, and audit services for numerous clients across the U.S., with a concentration in Utah.

Qualifications

• 4–8 years of hands-on field experience in ambient air quality or meteorological monitoring; a Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, meteorology, or engineering may be considered in place of equivalent field experience.

Required Skills

• Demonstrated, practical experience with DC electronics, telemetry, and remote data logging equipment.
• Working knowledge of state and Federal (EPA) environmental monitoring guidelines and regulations, gained through direct application at active monitoring sites.
• Hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and proven problem-solving skills; comfortable working independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills

• Proven, hands-on experience operating and maintaining meteorological and air quality instrumentation.
• Experience-based client interaction and communication skills, including strong active listening developed through direct client-facing field work.
• Proficiency in the MS365 ecosystem (Teams, SharePoint, OneNote, etc.).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to lift 70 lbs, travel freely and frequently, and remain on feet for up to 12 hours per day at field sites; multi-day field efforts are not uncommon. While performing site work, employees may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise levels at monitoring sites are typically moderate.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to communicate clearly in English, both written and spoken. Comfort with basic math and algebra as applied to air quality measurements (percentages, area, volume, and similar calculations). Sound judgment interpreting instructions and troubleshooting variable field conditions where standardization is limited.
