What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Air Quality Engineer position at Trinity Consultants?
We’re looking for an Air Quality Consultant/Air permit to lead Air Permitting and compliance projects for clients in the power, industrial, manufacturing, commercial, and transportation sectors. This is a high-impact role with a wide variety of project work with Environmental permitting, and strong potential for advancement within our growing Environmental Services team.

Responsibilities
- Prepare air permit application packages and supporting documentation.
- Conduct site assessments and inspections to ensure air quality compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Estimate emissions (including GHGs and emissions during maintenance/start-up/shutdown).
- Manage project scopes, timelines, budgets, and client communication.
- Putting together complex permitting applications for a wide variety of projects
- Support development of multi-media environmental plans, including:
- Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs)
- Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans
- EPCRA filings
- Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
- Support other environmental compliance work as needed.
EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate has led complex, difficult engagements (national and/or multiple sites, multiple work streams, large teams, multiple phases or launches, etc.)
Experience includes ability to:
- Identify and deploy resources, assign work, create work plans, ensure quality of work, etc.
- Collaborate with clients to address issues impacting the financial performance of projects.
- Ensure mutually beneficial service delivery by liaising with client contacts and identifying future client issues and opportunities.
- Presentations at industry conferences (local or national)
- Manage project status and relationships and ensure that engagement deliverables meet client expectations within time and budget.
- Monitor actuals to budget realization and margins, re-forecast as appropriate.
- Design and lead effective meetings with senior executives.
- Structure and plan deliverables for multiple phases of complex projects.
- Guide, coach, and mentor employees (3-5 employees).
- Manage performance, including development of written performance reviews and roundtable discussions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Successful candidates must possess at minimum, the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree a plus).
- 7 years of experience in air permitting/compliance (10 years preferred).
- Prior consulting experience in environmental permitting and compliance
- Solid understanding of the Clean Air Act, including:
- New Source Review (NSR) / Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD)
- National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP)
- New Source Performance Standards (NSPS)
- Title V and VI permitting
- Familiarity with air dispersion modeling tools (AERMOD, AERSCREEN, CALPUFF, etc.) is a plus.
- Experience or interest in sustainability initiatives is a bonus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Salary : $90,000 - $130,000
