Responsibilities
- Instrumentation Subject Matter Expert (SME) ability to understand and build on Company instrumentation standards, site legacy standards, and industry standards.
- Identify and evaluate technology upgrades for Reliability & Maintenance team.
- Use accepted industry methodology to prove proper instrumentation is being utilized.
- Gather data from Operations & Mechanical and Reliability & Maintenance teams to improve and/or correct instrumentation, increasing equipment uptime.
- Provide quality control and design reviews of new projects that involve any instrumentation systems.
- Specify equipment, installation, and quotations for procurement.
- Create bid packages to obtain engineering services and installation bids.
- Work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines; Operations & Mechanical and Reliability & Maintenance.
- Oversee equipment recordkeeping to ensure correct information is filed and accessible.
- Track, evaluate, and report project performance goals to determine project ROI.
- Develop project estimates and sketches needed for funding consideration.
- Provide budget input for improvement plans and five-year outlook that support optimum equipment performance.
- Mentors less experienced engineers.
- Provide assistance in the field during capital start-ups, testing, shutdowns and/or upsets.
- Provide troubleshooting assistance and Root Cause Failure Analysis expertise as needed for equipment failures.
- Initiate and follow Management of Change for instrumentation related changes.
Requirements
- BS in Engineering
- Experience in process unit operations.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the chemical/refining, oil and gas industries supporting electrical instrumentation in a plant environment.
