Position Summary

The Austin Arts Center seeks an experienced facilitator to join our production team as Director of Production. The Director of Production, under the supervision of the Executive Director, coordinates production and event schedules and budget oversight necessary for the production activity of Trinity College’s Music Department, Theater and Dance Department, and guest artist programming in and about the Austin Arts Center and related spaces. The Director of Production facilitates communication among production staff, students, creative teams, and related departments for generative and sustainable collaboration on each project. In addition to budget and scheduling oversight in close cooperation with the AAC Technical Director, responsibilities include facilitating student employment procedures, purchasing, production meetings, and box office operations of the performing arts and related facilities. This position performs all duties in full support of the College’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, understanding that thoughtful integration of these values is instrumental to positive and effective learning and community-building.
The successful candidate must be an effective and generous communicator (oral and written) who is capable of working constructively with and adapting to a wide range of collaborators, personalities and working styles. The position requires a balance between detail-oriented focus and attention to big picture, strategic issues. Demonstrated proficiency in budget management, common office software and filesharing platforms (i.e. Microsoft Office suite,Google Workspace, Zoom), theatrical software, and creative problem solving are required. Evening/weekend hours required during tech and performance for assigned projects.

Qualifications
MFA in production management (preferred), BA (required) with minimum five years professional experience in production management, stage management, and/or technical direction (or comparable experience) in a performing arts environment.
