The Human Resources Assistant provides highly confidential, accurate, timely and advanced broad administrative support to the Human Resources department and staff in all functional human resources areas.
This position is the initial point of contact for internal and external employees and visitors. This position is responsible for day-to-day operations and contributes to maintaining a professional and positive office environment and collaborative team atmosphere.
- Answers questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies and hiring processes; triages and refers more complex questions to appropriate senior level HR staff.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resources files and records.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resources records, documentation, and employee files.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- May assist with data entry into PeopleSoft and benefits administration.
- May assist with planning and execution of special events such as employee recognition events, celebrations, new hire orientations, etc.
- Assists with processing of college invoices and employment verifications.
- Assists with various state and federal reporting requirements and special projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and based on departmental need.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- 1-3 years required, preferably in a human resources field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
