Middle School Teacher

Trinity Christian School (Carbondale, IL) seeks a full-time or part-time middle school English Language Arts teacher, instructing grades 6-8. The successful candidate will be a committed and effective educator who maintains a devoted walk of faith in Jesus Christ. This teacher will be responsible for creating a nurturing and engaging classroom environment in which each student develops abilities to think critically with language and texts through reading, writing, and communication. Critical to the school’s mission and success will be the teacher’s investment in students’ spiritual development through Bible lessons, prayer, chapel worship, and other forms of discipleship.

All instruction and activity at this school should operate through a distinctly Christian worldview in keeping with the school’s statement of faith. In all areas of instruction, the teacher seeks to equip students to think clearly, work diligently, and communicate truthfully, from a Biblical perspective using the gifts and abilities God has given them for His glory.

We emphasize Christian education is a ministry—a calling from God to serve His people, spread the gospel, and labor for His kingdom. The teacher should be a spiritual role model for students and are held to a high standard of Christian behavior as teachers and employees.

NOTE: This position may be available as a full-time position including homeroom responsibilities or as a part-time position, teaching X classes per week.

Position Required Qualifications:

· Mature follower of Jesus Christ attending a local church.

· Commitment to Christian ministry through children’s education.

· Bachelor’s Degree (in any area).

· Excellent written and oral communication ability.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in English or related discipline.

· Previous teaching experience in any educational context

· Previous experience working with children, particularly middle-school

Position Responsibilities:

· Instruction & Classroom Management

o Plan, prepare, and teach daily lessons for middle-school ELA classroom.

o Develop clear learning objectives and behavioral expectations to students.

o Integrate Christian faith and values into instruction and class discussions.

o Assign and assess homework that reinforces classroom learning.

o Maintain an organized, positive, and safe learning environment.

· Assessment & Reporting

o Administer and/or develop assessments aligned with learning goals.

o Use assessment data to inform and adapt instructional practices.

o Maintain accurate and timely records of attendance, grades, and student progress.

o Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student performance.

· Curriculum Development

o Review and update curriculum materials annually in coordination with the curriculum coordinator.

o Develop new content units and courses as needed.

o Collaborate with colleagues to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across grade levels.

· Professional Growth & Collaboration

o Participate actively in meetings and professional development sessions

o Engage in ongoing personal and professional goal-setting and reflection.

o Contribute to school-wide initiatives.

o Receive and apply constructive feedback to continually improve instructional practice.

· Other Duties

o Attend school events and activities as needed.

o Lead chapel devotions for middle school students on a rotating schedule.

o Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
