What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at Trinity Christian School?
We are seeking applicants for 20 hours per week, starting in late summer, who are capable of maintaining the cleanliness and of our facilities, along with light maintenance, and who, by the pattern of their lives, are Christian role models in faith and deed.
The Custodian will be responsible for the overall cleanliness of all areas of our facilities.
Hours are somewhat flexible (afternoon and evening), but the school must be cleaned before the school day starts, Monday-Friday. To ready the school for Monday, cleaning may be accomplished Fri, Sat, or Sun.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Thoroughly clean and sanitize restrooms and stock with proper supplies/paper products.
Sweep, vacuum, dust, clean, and mop hallways, entryways, offices, and classrooms according to the provided schedule.
Make sure that the halls are free of clutter to maintain a clean and neat appearance.
Must empty waste cans and remove trash to designated trash bins.
Cleans vertical and horizontal surfaces that collect dust to provide a healthy environment for all staff and visitors.
Responsible for maintaining/stocking cleaning supply inventory records and request new supplies as needed.
Minimal outdoor grounds-keeping will be required during warmer months (mowing is not a part of the job, it is contracted outside)
Repair any broken amenities or equipment (Toilets, faucets, desks etc.), and report larger projects as necessary.
Report and repair when capable, mechanical, structural, and aesthetic problems in order to maintain a properly functioning and attractive campus.
Follow “Lost and Found Policy” and turn in lost property to the office immediately.
Qualifications/Requirements
Custodial experience is preferred but not required
Some maintenance or construction experience required
Complete project work as assigned to ensure that all areas get cleaned periodically
Punctuality and reliability is a must
Ability to work afternoons into the early evenings is a must
Honesty and exceptional work ethic
Ability to solve problems independently
Demonstrate diplomacy in all interactions while using appropriate behavior and language
Must be 18 years of age or older
Physical Demands
Continual standing, bending over, and walking
Continual reaching with hands/fingers/arms during shift
Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling and crouching during shift
Must be able to occasionally lift over 30 pounds
Will utilize cleaning chemicals
Summer hours are different than during the academic year, and will likely not be available for full-time work June through July.
