Trinity Rail is hiring a Cost Estimating Senior Analyst to support our estimating and quoting operations by developing accurate, timely cost estimates that align with customer requirements and business objectives. We are seeking a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will support the preparation and review of cost estimates using established tools, templates, and procedures. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional partners - including Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to gather required inputs, clarify scope, and support competitive, high-quality quotes.
What You'll Do:
- Prepare cost estimates and quotes using established tools, templates, and procedure
- Review quote requests to ensure required information in complete and accurate prior to submission.
- Analyze bills of material (BOMs), labor estimates, freight, and supplier inputs using standard costing methods.
- Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to clarify scope, assumptions, and requirements.
- Support the review and validation of estimates by identifying potential risks, gaps, or inconsistencies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assumptions, inputs, and revisions within estimating and CRM systems.
- Track assigned quotes to support turnaround time and backlog visibility.
- Participate in win/loss and post‑quote reviews to support continuous improvement.
- Escalate complex or high‑risk issues to the Cost Estimating Manager as appropriate.
- Communicate professionally and timely with internal stakeholders regarding quote status and questions.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- Minimum of Two years of relevant experience in cost estimation, supply chain, operations, engineering support, or related discipline.
- Industry experience (e.g., rail or similar manufacturing environment) preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in Outlook, MS Office applications, especially Excel
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Ability to work across the various functions of the organization and with external suppliers
