Job Overview:
The Echo Technologist performs echocardiograms daily on inpatients and outpatients of all age groups, assists the cardiologist with TEE, performs high-level disinfection probes, has a strong commitment to patient safety and quality care, and has the ability to work with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications:
Required:
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Graduated from an accredited Ultrasound program specializing in Echocardiography
Preferred:
- Pediatric experience
- 1-2 years of related work experience
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- Current license/certification/registry eligible as Registered Echocardiography Technician — RCS or RDCS
- Current Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association (BLS)
Scheduling Requirements:
- Weekends and holiday coverage
- Per Diem (PD)
Essential Functions:
- Schedules inpatient echo around outpatient appointments
- Schedules in-patients with transport team
- Perform echo on all age groups: Neonatal/Infants, Pediatrics, Adults/ Geriatrics
- Perform portable echo when necessary
- Notify appropriate physician when patient scanning shows pericardial effusion with tamponade or thrombus
- Schedule TEE appointments with physicians and other departments involved
- Assist Cardiologist when performing TEE procedures
- Prepare and clean TEE scope prior to and after procedure
- Set up necessary files for reading physician
- Order supplies and linen for department as needed
- Compiles files for archiving as needed
- Participate in departmental quality improvement projects
