Job Description
The IT Project Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing IT projects across the organization, ensuring alignment with State of Michigan methodologies and standards. This role requires exceptional communication, coordination, and follow-up skills, along with demonstrated expertise in managing complex IT initiatives within a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage all phases of IT projects utilizing the Project Portfolio Management Tool (Clarity) to prepare project schedules, assign resources, and manage budgets.
· Prepare and deliver project information and presentations tailored to diverse audiences, including executives, managers, and technical teams.
· Actively monitor, control, and communicate project progress—managing cost, schedule, scope, resources, quality, and risks throughout the project lifecycle.
· Ensure clear, timely, and accurate communication with all stakeholders, including sponsors, project teams, program managers, and DTMB/MGCB leadership.
· Lead collaboration between business and technical teams to drive consensus and secure commitment to project goals.
· Develop and maintain essential SUITE Project Management Methodology (PMM) deliverables such as:
o Project Charter
o Project Schedule
o Project Budget
o Communication Plan
o Project Status Reports
o Risk & Issue Management Plans
o Change Requests
o Project Closedown Summary
· Ensure adherence to the SUITE PMM and System Engineering Methodology (SEM), including stage transitions and deliverable approvals.
· Facilitate and enforce Change Management processes for scope, schedule, or budget deviations—ensuring approval of all Change Requests prior to execution.
· Develop Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) for projects in yellow or red status.
· Understand project benefits and assess the impact of changes on business cases and related documentation.
· Review vendor contracts to ensure compliance, timely delivery, and adherence to vendor approval procedures.
· Coordinate communications and interactions with other agencies and system owners to ensure successful project integration.
· Foster stakeholder collaboration by clarifying expectations, assigning responsibilities, and tracking deliverables to completion.
