Job Summary

The Team Leader / MRSS Supervisor provides frontline supervisory oversight, clinical consultation, and operational leadership for an assigned crisis response team within the Mobile Response Stabilization Services program. This role is responsible for ensuring that clinical quality, compliance, documentation standards, and team performance meet program expectations. The Team Leader maintains direct service responsibilities, models best practice in crisis engagement, and serves as the primary point of contact for day-to-day team operations.

Primary Role During a Crisis Response

The Team Leader / MRSS Supervisor holds primary responsibility for the supervision, development, and performance management of assigned Crisis Counselors, Senior Crisis Counselors, Peer Support Specialists, and other assigned personnel. They ensure clinical fidelity on scene, monitor compliance with program requirements, and contribute to a culture of accountability, learning, and professional growth.

Core Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Staff Development
    • Conduct weekly individual supervision with all assigned clinical and peer staff.
    • Support the professional growth, competency development, and goal-setting of each supervised employee.
    • Facilitate onboarding and orientation activities for new team members.
    • Monitor and document staff performance throughout the year to support formal evaluation processes.
    • Identify training and development needs and connect staff to appropriate resources.
    • Facilitate Senior Roundtable meetings as assigned.
    • Supervise interns, PRN staff, and other assigned personnel as directed.
  • Clinical Oversight and Consultation
    • Provide clinical consultation to Crisis Counselors on complex, high-acuity, or uncertain presentations.
    • Review clinical documentation for quality, accuracy, and compliance with agency and regulatory standards.
    • Monitor clinical dispositions and level of care determinations for appropriateness and consistency.
    • Conduct or support critical incident reviews and debriefs following complex encounters.
    • Ensure that peer and clinical services are integrated effectively throughout the crisis continuum.
  • Direct Service and Field Presence
    • Maintain assigned direct service expectations and productivity standards established by the organization.
    • Participate in mobile crisis responses to model best practice and provide on-scene clinical oversight.
    • Support team members during high-acuity or complex encounters as needed.
  • Operational Oversight and Compliance
    • Ensure assigned staff follow established intake, crisis response, documentation, communication, and dispatch workflows.
    • Monitor compliance with all IDHS, HFS, CESSA, CARF, CCBHC, DBHR, organizational, and program-specific requirements.
    • Monitor staff certification, licensure, and training requirements and escalate concerns to Program Management.
    • Participate in program audits, quality improvement activities, and performance monitoring.
    • Escalate compliance concerns, critical incidents, and operational issues to Program Management promptly.
    • Maintain awareness of staff performance throughout the year to support formal evaluation processes.
  • Documentation and Compliance
    • Complete all required supervisory and direct service documentation within established timelines.
    • Maintain all required clinical credentials, licensure, and QMHP status.
    • Adhere to all IDHS, HFS, CESSA, CARF, CCBHC, DBHR, organizational, and program-specific requirements.
    • Participate in leadership meetings, multidisciplinary staffing, and quality improvement activities.
Accreditation, Certification, and Compliance

Trilogy Behavioral Healthcare Operates Within a CARF-accredited Environment And Maintains Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Standards. All Employees Are Expected To Support Compliance With:

Documentation Standards

All Employees Are Responsible For:

  • Completing documentation in accordance with agency, grant, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
  • Completing required documentation by the end of the assigned shift whenever possible.
  • Completing all documentation within 24 hours of service delivery unless otherwise approved by leadership.
  • Maintaining accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation.

Workflow Compliance

Vehicle And Equipment Responsibilities

As a field-based position, this role is expected to:

  • Maintain agency vehicles, equipment, and supplies in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Report maintenance, safety, or equipment concerns promptly.
  • Ensure readiness for field response activities.

Peer Services Integration

Clinical staff are expected to work collaboratively with and support the integration of peer services throughout the crisis continuum. This includes recognizing the value of lived experience, supporting peer staff in their roles, and fostering a team environment in which peer and clinical perspectives are equally respected.

  • Staff Development

Supervised staff demonstrate measurable growth in clinical skill, professional practice, and role competency over time. Supervision is consistent, goal-directed, and documented. Staff identify the Team Leader as a meaningful source of clinical support and guidance.

  • Compliance

All assigned staff maintain required certifications and licensure, complete required training, and adhere to documentation timelines and workflow standards. Compliance concerns are identified early and addressed proactively.

  • Quality

Clinical documentation across the team is accurate, timely, and consistent with agency, grant, regulatory, and accreditation standards. The Team Leader actively monitors documentation quality and participates in quality improvement activities.

  • Service Delivery

Crisis encounters are completed with clinical integrity and appropriate dispositions. The Team Leader's field presence and clinical oversight contribute to consistent, high-quality crisis response across the team.

  • Workforce Retention

Staff report high levels of job satisfaction and feel clinically supported in their roles. Turnover is reduced through intentional supervision, mentorship, and a culture of professional investment and accountability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related clinical field required.
  • Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) status required.
  • Active progression toward independent clinical licensure required; LCSW or LCPC preferred.
  • 591-designated Team Leaders must hold full clinical licensure or obtain licensure within organizational expectations.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in crisis intervention, community mental health, or emergency behavioral health services required.
  • Previous supervisory, lead, or clinical oversight experience preferred.
  • CRSS certification not required; expected to work collaboratively with and support the integration of peer services.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, recovery-oriented service approaches, and IDHS/CCBHC program requirements.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends consistent with program operational needs.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to work effectively in community settings and respond to mobile crisis calls across designated service areas.
