Position Summary – Sanitation Supervisor

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all sanitation operations within the facility to ensure equipment, production areas, and plant environments are cleaned and sanitized in compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This position leads and coordinates sanitation team activities, provides training on proper cleaning procedures, GMPs, SSOPs, and safety practices, and ensures the effective use of sanitation chemicals and equipment. The Sanitation Supervisor conducts inspections and audits, maintains accurate sanitation records, manages sanitation inventories, and works closely with production and maintenance departments to support operational efficiency, product safety, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, this role promotes a strong culture of workplace safety and continuous improvement throughout all sanitation processes.

Job Functions:

Oversee all sanitation activities, ensuring production lines, and facilities are cleaned and sanitized according to established schedules and procedures. 

Oversee the disassembly, cleaning, and sanitizing of production machinery to ensure the plant is ready for production. 

Conduct final pre-operational inspections to gain USDA approval before production begins.

Lead, and supervise sanitation team members on proper cleaning procedures, chemical safety, and equipment operation. 

Provide performance feedback, manage schedules, and mentor staff.

Provide training in cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). 

Monitor and verify adherence to industry standards, government regulations, and company policies (SSOPs and GMPs); conduct regular inspections and audits. 

Maintain inventory and manage the ordering of sanitation chemicals and equipment, ensuring proper storage and use. 

Keep accurate records of all sanitation activities, maintain sanitation schedules, and compile data for audits and track improvements. 

Investigate and resolve complaints, sanitation incidents, and equipment malfunctions to ensure a sanitary and efficient environment. 

Coordinate with other departments, such as production and maintenance, to schedule activities, address issues, and ensure overall facility cleanliness and product safety. 

Promote and ensure compliance with industrial safety requirements and chemical safety protocols. 


Requirements:

Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience in sanitation activities in poultry companies or similar.
  • 5 years of experience in a supervisory role or similar leadership position.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse workforce.
  • Demonstrated understanding of production KPIs, yield management, labor efficiency, and performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of USDA regulations, HACCP, and food safety standards within protein processing.


Work Environment

  • Fast-paced poultry processing facility with refrigerated production areas.
  • Regular exposure to processing equipment.
  • Requires standing, walking production floors, and supervising operations for extended periods.

Salary : $52,000 - $67,000
