POSITION SUMMARY
The 3rd Shift Production Supervisor leads overnight manufacturing operations at Trillium Foods’ Brundidge, AL facility, producing liquid food products. This role is responsible for driving safe, efficient, and compliant production while ensuring strong operational continuity between overnight and day shifts.
With a focus on execution, sanitation, and food safety, this leader plays a critical role in maintaining plant standards during off-shift hours. The position requires a hands-on leadership approach in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and includes flexibility to support weekend or holiday operations as needed.
Because 3rd shift plays an important role in overnight sanitation and preparation for the following production day, this position is responsible for ensuring effective coordination between Production, Sanitation, Quality, and Maintenance and for delivering a clean, safe, production-ready operation to 1st shift.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations & Production Leadership (50%)
- Lead and supervise overnight production operations for liquid manufacturing lines
- Execute production schedules to meet customer demand, quality standards, and operational targets
- Troubleshoot operational challenges including equipment performance, material availability, and staffing gaps
- Ensure effective shift handoffs, including clear communication of production status, issues, and priorities to incoming 1st shift leadership
- Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, and Sanitation teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations
Quality, Food Safety & Compliance (20%)
- Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, sanitation, and food safety programs
- Enforce OSHA, FDA, USDA, SQF, and company safety and quality standards
- Oversee sanitation execution, including cleaning verification and line readiness for next-day production
- Review and maintain accurate production, sanitation, and HACCP documentation
- Maintain a safe, clean, and audit-ready work environment
Continuous Improvement (15%)
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, sanitation effectiveness, and reduce downtime
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve shift performance and operational consistency
- Reinforce a “right-first-time” mindset across all production activities
Team Development & Training (15%)
- Train, coach, and develop production employees to build capability and accountability
- Reinforce expectations related to safety, quality, and performance standards
- Provide ongoing performance feedback and support workforce planning decisions in partnership with leadership
R&D and Plant Trial Support
- Support execution of plant trials, test runs, and special production activities as scheduled
- Ensure sanitation, labeling, and documentation requirements are met during trials
- Partner with Operations and R&D to support successful trial execution during off-shift hours
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations
- Prior experience leading or supervising manufacturing associates
- Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation requirements
Knowledge & Skills:
- Experience with liquid or thermal food processing
- Knowledge of OSHA and safety programs
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Effective communication and hands-on leadership abilities
