Overview
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead our safety initiatives and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. The EHS Manager leads the development, implementation, and oversight of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international standards. A critical focus includes maintaining certification and compliance with ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems). The role fosters a culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement across all operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of facilities to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide training and development programs for employees on safety practices, first aid, CPR, and occupational health.
- Deliver training programs on safety, emergency preparedness, environmental compliance, and ISO awareness.
- Develop, implement, and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems.
- Manage workers' compensation claims and ensure compliance with workers' compensation law.
- Prepare detailed reports on EHS performance metrics, incidents, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead root cause analysis investigations for workplace incidents to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
- Stay updated on industry trends and changes in EHS regulations.
- Ensure alignment with certification requirements, conduct internal audits, and lead external audit preparations.
- Lead hazard assessments, risk analyses, and environmental impact studies.
- Oversee investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for incidents.
- Track safety metrics (TRIR, LTIR, audit scores) and report performance.
- Collaborate with leadership on sustainability goals such as waste reduction and pollution prevention.
- Mentor and potentially supervise EHS staff or contractors.
- Ensure adherence to CAL OSHA, CAL EPA, RCRA, HWCA and other applicable laws.
- Deliver training programs on safety, emergency preparedness, environmental compliance, and ISO awareness.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 7 years of progressively responsible experience in EHS roles.
- Proven expertise in managing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 programs.
- Professional certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM, or ISO Lead Auditor) highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and change management skills.
FLSA Classification: Exempt/Salary
Salary : $95,000 - $125,000
