Compensation: $19.00 starting pay
Job Summary
The Feed Mill Building and Grounds Keeper is responsible for ensuring the feed mill is well-maintained and assisting with daily feed mill operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production of feed for poultry operations. This role involves supporting ingredient handling, feed production processes, equipment care, and maintaining a clean and biosecurity environment.
Essential Job Functions
Remove snow and ice to maintain safe pathways.
Perform general landscaping, including maintaining roads and driveways.
Move and grade rock for landscaping and maintenance purposes.
- Assist with loading and unloading ingredients and finished feed.
- Operate forklifts, skid steers, or other equipment to move feed and materials.
- Monitor ingredient levels and assist with bin/tank checks.
- Perform routine cleaning of mill equipment, bins, and surrounding areas to maintain safety and biosecurity standards.
- Assist with light maintenance of feed mill equipment under supervision (e.g., belts, augers, motors).
- Follow established safety and biosecurity protocols when handling ingredients and feed.
Support feed mill staff in staging, batching, or mixing processes as directed.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 0-2 years of general work experience
Must possess a valid driver's license
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs, as well as reach, bend, twist, and lift above the head. Must be agile and capable of working in both indoor and outdoor environments under various climate conditions.
Basic mechanical skills are required to troubleshoot, repair, and replace equipment, including adjusting, troubleshooting and operating and maintaining the irrigation system.
Ability to work overtime, weekends and holiday hours as required based on production demand
Preferred Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
Previous experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping.
Bilingual in English and Spansh
Work Environment
The work environment involves both indoor and outdoor settings, requiring the ability to operate effectively in various climate conditions, including inclement weather. The role requires physical activity, such as lifting and moving up to 50 lbs occasionally, and involves reaching, bending, twisting, and lifting above the head. Effective communication skills are necessary, and the position may require working nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
