Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant performs advanced accounting functions and supports accurate financial reporting and compliance with company policies and accounting standards. This role manages reconciliations, assists with month-end and year-end close activities, prepares financial data and reports, and helps improve accounting processes and internal controls. The Senior Accountant may also provide guidance to less experienced team members.
Essential Job Functions:
- Support the day-to-day, month-end and year-end close process, including reviewing journal entries, financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Conduct account analysis and reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Coordinates with and assists in preparation of various reports for senior management.
- Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Supports the controller during audits
- Monitor and improve accounting processes for efficiency and accuracy.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities as needed.
- Provide guidance and support to accounting team members and cross-functional partners.
- Assist with special projects and other accounting-related responsibilities as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
To be considered, the resume of the applicant must demonstrate the following qualifications/skills:
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience required.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger processes.
- Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- This position requires the ability to think independently, use professional judgment and initiative
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and proven experience meeting deadlines
- Demonstrated customer service focus with a positive and respectful work style and professional business demeanor
Preferred Qualifications:
- Documented history of process improvement creating efficiency
- Proven success working with 3rd party software integration with ERP
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and operating office equipment.
- May occasionally lift and move items up to 15 pounds.
