Join our dynamic Real Estate Section as a key member of the team! This Real Estate Paralegal will provide comprehensive support to attorneys and clients on a variety of complex real estate transactions.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of real estate transactions, including purchases and sales (commercial, office, retail, and high-net-worth residential), loan transactions, joint ventures, ground leases, and development projects.
- Conduct in-depth title and survey reviews for commercial real estate deals, analyzing title insurance commitments and ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys. Prepare detailed title and survey summaries, including document abstracts, for internal and client review.
- Negotiate due diligence materials with title companies, surveyors, and zoning firms, including title insurance pro formas, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, and zoning analysis reports.
- Draft title objection letters, title response letters, conveyance documents, and other title clearance documents (e.g., estoppel certificates, subordination agreements, releases, memorandums, and notices).
- Advise on and coordinate title clearance matters, ensuring adherence to transaction deadlines.
- Prepare and review drafts of leases and amendments.
- Provide guidance to attorneys and clients on ALTA title insurance and NSPS survey standards.
- Coordinate the execution and recording of closing documents.
- Maintain meticulous post-closing records, including closing binders and post-closing title clearance items, in compliance with Real Estate Section and firm procedures.
- Contribute to the professional development of the Real Estate team by participating in training and mentoring junior paralegals and attorneys.
- Handle additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Demonstrated experience in title, survey, and zoning review is essential.
- 5 years of transactional experience in a commercial real estate practice within a large or mid-sized law firm, preferably with a billable hour requirement.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and administrative abilities with meticulous attention to detail and a proven ability to see projects through to completion.
- Excellent problem-solving, reasoning, and analytical skills.
