Title:                           Shift Supervisor

Functional Area:       All Production Departments

Reports to:                 Production Manager

Position Description: The primary purpose of the position is the coordinating of manufacturing processes and achieving shift objectives of safety, production, quality, and costs.  The position will provide leadership and organization to the entire manufacturing team. 

Shift Supervisor Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions:

• Conduct pre-shift meeting with entire crew to discuss Safety, Quality, Productivity, Schedule, and Cost issues.
• Assign personnel to appropriate tasks and equipment for the shift.
• Order all supplies and materials to execute the schedule for the current and following shifts.
• Troubleshoot machine problems with Shift Maintenance Technician.
• Escalate issues such as injuries, equipment problems, color problems, or personnel problems as appropriate to other company management resources.
• Ensure that the entire production team meets all quality and production standards, minimizing scrap and downtime.
• Coordinate all safety and quality training using the online systems.
• Coordinate all hearing tests for production team.
• Perform all performance management activities including performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
• Report attendance status for each shift and execute attendance counseling as warranted.
• Review, verify, enter, and approve the shift payroll time and clock punches.
• Train and develop all personnel on the shift.

• Leading housekeeping efforts and always maintaining a clean and safe work environment in all departments.
• Identifying and immediately resolving personnel and safety issues and assisting with investigations and resolutions of the issues if other management resources are utilized.
• Communicating and working with all personnel to ensure an appropriate quantity and quality of raw materials and work in process inventories are delivered to the appropriate departments as needed.
• Ensuring that all personnel are performing quality checks on material, comparing actual results to specifications, and communicating results in a timely manner.
• Accurate and complete reporting of production and quality data both manually and in computer systems.
• Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

Preferred Requirements:

• Excellent safety and attendance record.
• Possess excellent problem-solving skills.
• Possesses strong communication skills both written and verbal.
• Possesses intermediate knowledge in math, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Understands production rates and production schedules.
• Ability to balance and achieve results in the areas of Safety, Quality, Productivity and Cost Reduction
• Self-motivated and able to work with little or no supervision and maintain a working and up-to-date knowledge of products and services.
• Must always interact with subordinates, co-workers, and supervisors in a professional manner.
• Ability to take responsibility for self and team.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to continually bend, stoop, crouch, reach above shoulder, use arms, wrists, grasp and squeeze with hands, access constricted spaces, and lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
• Must be able to withstand occasional exposure to dusty or dirty ambient conditions.
• Must be able to withstand occasional exposure to hot or cold ambient conditions.
• Must be able to withstand occasional exposure to mild chemical irritants.

Training:

• Training would be a mixture of online training on safety, quality, and production procedures along with on-the-job training conducted by an experienced Shift Supervisor
• Additional training would be provided as needed by the Assistant Production Manager, and Production Manager.
• Training duration would normally be 3 months.

Salary : $35
