The Carrollton location operates in what is known as "Value-Added". This is taking the fish that is processed from our Alaska facilities and turning it into what you would buy at the store.

Through this paid internship, we will teach and mentor while developing the basic foundational knowledge required to be successful in manufacturing. As part of the internship, you will lead a process improvement project designed either to improve efficiency or reduce costs in the Operation.

Essential Intern Functions:

  • The intern will be exposed to all aspects of the plant operations and "follow the fish" through the further processing factory in order to gain understanding of the plant operation along with their role in the system.
  • The intern will rotate positions within the facility but will be assigned a primary responsibility that aligns their area of study and interest with the company's needs.
  • Interns should be self-motivated and know that it is up to them to get the most out of this experience.

Job Summary:

Assists in business, production, and office operations by performing the following duties:

  • Supports plant operations, plant floor production and support departments including but not limited to; safety, food safety, quality assurance, continuous improvement, accounting, shipping and receiving, warehouse, human resources, research and development, and maintenance.
  • Maximizes productivity through proficient use of appropriate software applications which include but not limited to Microsoft Office, JDEdwards software, SAP, Power BI, Ceridian, Minitab and InformEAM. Ability to demonstrate knowledge or the aptitude for learning new office applications.
  • Works with Trident team members and analyzes data to understand complex manufacturing processes to improve key metrics.
  • Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow.
  • Learns and demonstrates Continuous Improvement tools such as Root Cause Analysis, 5S, TPM, Visual Management, and time studies to seek continuous improvement in day to day operations.
  • Maintains ongoing contact with seafood processors, operators, mechanics, supervisors, and management.
  • General administrative tasks
  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Education:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and should be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university program.
  • Preferred majors include: logistics, management, business administration, and supply chain.

Experience:

Special Training/Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers or associates of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving equipment and other risks associated with being in a manufacturing environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, hearing protection will be provided.
  • Due to this being a food manufacturing Operation, floor time requires the donning of a smock, hairnet, slip resistant shoes and safety glasses.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arm's length. They will also be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must routinely lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Mental Activities:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use teamwork skills and understand English.
  • The employee is occasionally required to use interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • The employee must occasionally read, speak and write English.

**Must be local to the state of Georgia.
