Position Overview

The Litigation Claims Adjuster is responsible for managing first-party homeowners’ property claims that have entered or are at risk of entering litigation. This role requires a sophisticated understanding of Florida insurance law, coverage analysis, and litigation strategy. Working closely with outside defense counsel, internal claims leadership, and legal teams, the Litigation Claims Adjuster will drive the strategic resolution of disputed claims while safeguarding Trident's financial interests and reputation.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative in managing claims. A strong sense of personal accountability and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential.

This position will start in a hybrid capacity at our Tampa office and is expected to transition to a fully remote schedule as the role matures.

Key Responsibilities

•     Manage an assigned portfolio of first-party homeowners litigation files from inception through resolution, including pre-suit demands, pending lawsuits, and post-judgment matters.

•     Evaluate and analyze coverage issues, policy language, and reservation of rights positions in coordination with coverage counsel.

•     Partner with outside defense counsel to develop litigation strategy, oversee legal expenses, and ensure compliance with litigation management guidelines.

•     Conduct independent file reviews, assess damages, and establish accurate reserves in accordance with company guidelines and statutory requirements.

•     Review and respond to Civil Remedy Notices (CRNs), Notices of Intent to Initiate Litigation (NOIs), and demand packages.

•     Attend mediations, depositions, and pre-trial hearings as required, either in person or via virtual appearance.

•     Negotiate settlements within delegated authority and present recommendations for excess-authority approvals.

•     Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the claims management system (diary notes, reserve changes, payment authorizations).


Required Qualifications

•     Minimum 5 years of experience handling first-party property claims, with at least 2 years focused on litigation management in Florida.

•     Experience interpreting homeowners’ policy language and analyzing coverage disputes.

•     Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate coverage positions and litigation strategy.

•     Ability to manage a diverse caseload independently with minimal supervision in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

•     Candidates with demonstrated insurance law experience and an active Florida All-Lines Adjuster License (6-20) or active Florida Bar membership.

Preferred Qualifications

•     J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school; Florida Bar membership a plus but not required.

•     Familiarity with Xactimate estimating software and construction/repair scoping.

•     Experience with SIU collaboration and insurance fraud detection.
