Job Title: Machinist Levels 1, 2, 3, & 4

Department: Machining

Location: High Bridge, NJ

 

*All candidates will be tested to ensure accurate placement in the team structure*

 

Machinist 1 (Entry/Junior) $22-25 (2nd Shift earns additional 10% differential)

  • Focus: Operation and basic production.
  • Responsibilities: Tends machines (CNC or manual), loads/unloads parts, performs basic measurement, and maintains shop cleanliness.
  • Experience: 0-2 years; Entry Level; Certificate/technical training advantageous.
  • Skills: Basic blueprint reading, measuring tools (calipers, micrometers), forklift experience, and following setup instructions.

Machinist 2 (Intermediate) $26-29 (2nd Shift earns additional 10% differential)

  • Focus: Machine setup and minor adjustments.
  • Responsibilities: Performs setups (CNC mills/lathes), makes minor programming adjustments, and conducts first-article inspection.
  • Experience: 2-5 years; works under moderate supervision.
  • Skills: Proficient in blueprint reading, proficient with CNC controllers, and ability to handle moderate-complexity setups.

Machinist 3 (Advanced) $30-32 (2nd Shift earns additional 10% differential)

  • Focus: Independent setup, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Responsibilities: Performs independent setup and programming (CAM software/Mastercam) from blueprints. Creates and designs fixtures/tooling, handles complex materials.
  • Experience: 5 years; may act as a team lead as needed.
  • Skills: Advanced CAD/CAM software proficiency, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) expertise, and complex manual/CNC machining.

Machinist 4 (Senior) $32 (2nd Shift earns additional 10% differential)

  • Focus: Complex programming, process improvement, and mentoring.
  • Responsibilities: Develops new procedures for complex, high-tolerance parts. Optimize production rates, reduce scrap, mentor’s junior machinists, assist with CAM programming, and ability to run multiple machines simultaneously.
  • Experience: 7-10 years; Often a journeyperson qualification or equivalent.
  • Skills: Expert-level knowledge of CNC machining, advanced fixture design, and root-cause analysis of manufacturing issues.


Core Competencies Across All Levels:

  • Schedule: First Shift 6/7am-3:30pm Second Shift 3:30pm – 12pm
  • 40 hours per week, with average overtime ranging from 5-15 hours weekly
  • Safety: Adherence to safety protocols.
  • Measurement: Use of precision instruments (micrometers, calipers).
  • Technical Knowledge: Ability to read blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Machine Operation: Experience with mills, lathes, grinders, and/or CNC machines.
