Job Description: Electrical Engineering Technician

Position Overview
An Electrical Engineering Technician (with an associate’s degree) assists engineers by performing various technical tasks and supporting the design, development, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment. This role requires a blend of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and hands-on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation and Maintenance: Install and maintain electrical systems and components, ensuring they function correctly and meet safety standards.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair electrical problems in equipment and systems, utilizing diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Testing and Calibration: Test electrical systems and components to ensure they meet specifications and performance standards. Calibrate instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including detailed reports on installations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Support Engineering Projects: Assist engineers in the design and development of electrical systems by providing technical support and feedback.
  • Compliance: Ensure all work complies with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with engineers, other technicians, and team members to achieve project goals and deadlines.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is preferred, but not required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with electrical testing and diagnostic equipment, and a strong understanding of electrical systems and principles.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Team Player: Ability to work well within a team and collaborate with others.
  • Safety Focus: Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all safety protocols.

Working Conditions

The Electrical Engineering Technician typically works in a combination of office and field environments.
