Position: EHS Specialist
Location: Nashville, TN - Remote
Work Arrangement: Remote with occasional travel to the Nashville site
Contract: 6 months initially, with potential for extension
Pay Rate: $55/hour on W2
Interview Process: 30-minute Hiring Manager Interview → 30-minute Team Interview
Position Overview
- We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs in a fast-paced operational environment. This role will focus on regulatory compliance, incident management, hazardous waste, chemical safety, environmental reporting, and promoting a strong culture of workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain EHS policies, procedures, training, and compliance programs.
- Conduct incident investigations, hazard assessments, safety audits, and corrective actions.
- Manage EHS records, reporting, data analysis, and compliance documentation.
- Support chemical safety programs, chemical inventories, and approvals.
- Manage hazardous waste streams in accordance with EPA RCRA regulations.
- Support Satellite Accumulation Areas (SAAs) and hazardous waste operations.
- Prepare and maintain Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifests and environmental records.
- Prepare environmental regulatory reports and promote a strong safety culture.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of progressive experience in Environmental, Health & Safety programs, preferably within manufacturing, service operations, or a similar environment.
- Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS programs.
- Strong knowledge of EPA RCRA / 40 CFR hazardous waste regulations, including waste identification, generator status, and container management.
- Working knowledge of DOT 49 CFR hazardous materials shipping requirements, including labeling, placarding, and packaging.
- Experience with incident investigations, risk assessments, safety audits, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with employees ranging from associate level through Directors and VPs.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and EHS management systems/tools.
- Must be local to the Nashville, TN area and able to travel to the site occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related technical discipline.
- Industry-recognized occupational health and safety certifications.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
- Experience supporting environmental reporting and hazardous waste management programs.
