JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to provide local technical support in the laboratory and Tricore facilities. Under general supervision, perform a wide range of facilities services tasks including general maintenance and repair of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and laboratory equipment at a level not requiring formal licensure. Required to perform tasks of other unlicensed trades, such as a light equipment operator, carpenter, painter, and/or locksmith. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Facilities Maintenance:
1. Monitor, maintain, and perform standard repairs to building electrical facilities and systems, such as fixtures, switches, photo cells, and outlets; assist licensed electricians with non-technical repairs as appropriate.
2. Monitor performance of heating, ventilation, and cooling systems for the facility; perform standard repair/replacement of components, as appropriate; and non-technical maintenance tasks such as cleaning of heating and cooling fan coil units and adjustment of system controls.
3. Monitor and perform non-technical maintenance of plumbing systems, to include standard repair of leaking fixtures, cleaning obstructed waste lines, installing water coolers, and/or performing non-technical modifications to plumbing and water supply systems; assist licensed plumbers, as appropriate.
4. Perform carpentry maintenance tasks including routine sheetrock/drywall installation and/or repair, window replacement, cabinet and countertop replacement, painting and texturing, and door and hardware installation; paint interior and exterior finishes, as appropriate.
5. May assist in maintaining water treatment and storage system.
6. May perform general maintenance, custodial, and trash removal tasks.
7. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
8. Document facilities maintenance requirements; maintain appropriate records of work performed.
9. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections and preventative maintenance of the facilities and file reports with the Facilities Manager.
10.Perform snow removal as required.
11.Handle hazardous materials and wastes in accordance with safety procedures and regulations. Specific training requirements are documented in TriCore’s Waste Management Plan, SAF 011.
12. Diagnose and repair refrigerator and freezer equipment.
Required to participate in afterhours On-Call during night/weekend/holidays.
Equipment Maintenance:
1. Perform repairs, calibrations, and maintaining equipment, using hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and knowledge of manufacturers' manuals, troubleshooting techniques, and preventive maintenance schedules of laboratory equipment.
2. Safety tests medical laboratory equipment and health care facility's structural environment to ensure patient and staff safety from electrical or mechanical hazards.
3. Perform and or assist in installation of new equipment or instruments.
4. Document equipment repairs, calibrations and maintain appropriate records of work performed.
5. Perform installation of Central Environmental Monitoring loggers and devices.
6. Perform calibration verifications on Central Environmental Monitoring loggers and probes.
Housekeeping:
1. Insure that the laboratory, office areas and restrooms are clean, trash is empty and paper towel, toilet tissue, and soap dispensers are stocked by the janitorial contractor.
2. Insure that janitorial supplies are ordered and stocked.

MINIMUM EDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalent.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Meet one of the following:
- One (1) to three (3) years experience as a Facility Support Technician I.
- Total of three (3) years previous experience summing to two (2) years in building / facility maintenance and one (1) year in equipment / instrument repair.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Driving required.
- Must be insurable by TriCore’s insurance carrier.
PREFERENCES:
- Trade Certificate.
IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS:
Prove immunity to Hepatitis B or be immunized or sign a waiver refusing hepatitis immunization. Provide documentation of a PPD test conducted not more than 90 days prior to date of hire or have a PPD test conducted.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. General knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems.
2. General Knowledge of equipment / instrument repair.
3. General knowledge of the test equipment used in troubleshooting plumbing/electrical systems and equipment / instruments.
4. Ability to repair and maintain appliances and heating and cooling equipment.
5. Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
6. Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
7. Handles hazardous materials and wastes in accordance with safety procedures and regulations. Specific training requirements are documented in TriCore’s Waste Management Plan, SAF-011.
8. Participate in continuing education programs.
9. Participate in quality assurance programs to ensure that quality standards are met.
10.Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
11.Valid NM Driver's license and must be insurable by lab insurance carrier.
