Position Summary
Tricon is seeking a Senior Market Intelligence Analyst to join our industry-leading polymers intelligence team in Houston, TX. This role will report to the Polymer Intelligence Manager. Our ideal candidate has a strong understanding of commodity trading and market economics, with commercial, analytical, and/or consulting experience in the plastics space. This candidate will also excel at managing multiple priorities and can navigate complex issues, both independently and within a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a proprietary outlook on various commodity and consumer markets that relate to the production, trade, and consumption of polymers
- Identify emerging themes, data gaps, or strategic blind spots, and design research initiatives that deliver clarity and commercial value across regions and products
- Collaborate in the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing market intelligence reports and dashboards
- Communicate regularly with our key suppliers, customers, and service providers as part of Tricon’s in-house market intelligence function
- Suggest new tools, sources, and techniques to enhance how we gather insights – whether through improved data pipelines, custom models, or alternative data usage.
- Evaluate new and existing contractual trade structures, analyzing pricing mechanisms, exposure points, and potential value capture
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, business, international trade, or related fields is required; Masters or above is preferred
- 5 years of experience in a commercial, analytical, or consulting setting covering the plastics market; exposure to plastics trading and container logistics a plus
- Solid analytical foundations, with a proficiency using Microsoft Suite products (i.e., Excel, Powerpoint) and a familiarity with the function(s) of more complex coding languages and platforms
- Ability to work efficiently to support a diverse set of commercial needs, sometimes under tight deadlines
- Self-starting, entrepreneurial candidates will excel in this role
