What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Breakdown Specialist position at Tribe Transportation?
Overview:
The fleet breakdown specialist assists drivers during equipment failure by coordinating timely repairs of physical assets and will manage and schedule preventative maintenance of the fleet. You will also coordinate with in house staff and vendors to schedule repairs and respond to freight delays due to breakdown situations.
Duties:
- Coordinate with repair shops and roadside services to minimize downtime for customer loads and drivers.
- Communicate with drivers regarding resolving the breakdown issue.
- Research local repair shops and services to coordinate cost effective and timely repairs.
- Provide authorization for minor repairs and preventive maintenance services to approved providers promptly to maintain optimum customer service.
- Track, report and relay service information for all preventative maintenance, APU service, Reefer service and annual inspections services.
- Initiate, audit and sustain all truck and trailer maintenance files in all necessary systems.
- Code all Maintenance invoices by truck, trailer and service performed.
- Enter all maintenance invoices in the Transportation Management system.
- Alert the Maintenance Manager of any issues that may arise from audits of the truck, trailer and maintenance files.
- Participates in driver orientation to explain driver responsibilities and steps for reporting maintenance and breakdowns.
Experience:
- Logistics and maintenance experience required.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Prior experience with Roadside assistance a plus.
- Ability to think on your feet and provide creative problem solutions.
- High School Diploma Required.
- Knowledge of TMW a plus.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work under pressure with urgency.
