Job Summary
The HR Coordinator performs a wide variety of human resources activities to support HR Business Partner Managers and Tribal Operations leaders of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC). Some of the key responsibilities include new hire orientation, answering policy inquiries and other questions to support team members, performance management, compensation administration, developing HR reports, maintaining HR data and personnel files, engagement activities planning, HR projects, and scheduling interviews.
Primary Job Duties
- Provide day-to-day HR support to HR Business Partner Managers on various HR work.
- Support team member relations activities by responding to routine team member questions, developing and maintaining documentation, and assisting with HR investigations as needed.
- Co-lead new team member orientation and logistics with Talent Management team.
- Prepare and maintain HR reports to share with HR team members and leaders.
- Respond promptly to team member questions related to policies, HR processes, and other inquiries.
- Assist HR Business Partners with performance management, talent reviews, and compensation administration.
- Partner with HR and Tribal Operations leaders on engagement activities and communications.
- Partner with Payroll and HRIS team to ensure team member data is current in human capital management (HCM) system, along with organizational charts.
- Ensure employee personnel file is current and complete and manage the archiving process.
- Partner with the Leadership and Development team and the Marketing and Communications Department to ensure the SMSC’s internal team member app and webpage have current HR documents.
- Communicate and schedule interviews with candidates as needed to support the Talent Acquisition team.
- Support other duties as assigned.
Reflects MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, CERTIFICATION and EXPERIENCE required to meet the expectations of this job:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
- 1 year of experience in human resources.
- Basic knowledge of HR processes and procedures.
- Self-starter and curiosity to learn.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) Suite; strong Excel experience preferred.
- Strong customer service ability and desire to build relationships.
- Ability to take initiative, act proactively, and solve problems.
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Organized and detail-oriented with strong administrative and documentation skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply internal policies and procedures and to communicate them accurately to others.
