Role Description The Ophthalmic Technician at TriaVision supports ophthalmologists and optometrists in delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment. This full-time/part time on-site role in Birmingham, AL and its neighboring cities includes but is not limited to performing preliminary patient assessments, measuring visual acuity, and conducting diagnostic tests such as fundus photography and visual field testing. The technician prepares patients for examinations, assists during procedures, and documents clinical findings as a medical scribe in the electronic health record. Additional responsibilities include maintaining and calibrating equipment, ensuring exam rooms are stocked and organized, educating patients on tests and treatments, and supporting efficient patient flow throughout the clinic.
Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge in eye care disciplines, including Optometry and Ophthalmology.
- Clinical support skills such as working as a Scribe and accurately documenting patient encounters.
- Technical proficiency with diagnostic imaging, including Fundus Photography and other ophthalmic testing devices.
- General understanding of Medicine and medical terminology relevant to eye care.
- Previous experience as an ophthalmic or optometric technician in a clinical setting is preferred.
- Ability to provide clear, compassionate communication with patients and collaborate effectively with clinicians and staff.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and comfort working with electronic health record systems.
- Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician (COA, COT, or similar) or willingness to obtain certification is an advantage.
