DISC Surgery Center is seeking a full-time Director of Nursing to join one of our seven locations across California. Our cutting-edge facilities specialize in spinal surgery, Total Joint Replacement Surgery, General Orthopedics, and interventional pain management.
In this position, the Director of Nursing (DON) will be responsible for overseeing nursing care (PreOp/PACU and OR departments), quality improvement, risk management, and infection prevention at the center. The DON will ensure accreditation readiness, manage nursing staff, and play a key role in patient care and operational functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for overseeing all aspects of nursing care provided within the facility, including the management of the Perioperative Department.
- Lead quality improvement, risk management and education programs for the facility.
Manages and schedule staff, ensuring adequate staffing and clinical competencies whilst maintaining fiscal responsibility with staffing
Lead the center’s accreditation efforts, ensuring compliance with clinical documentation, quality, and safety standards.
Supervise clinical teams including nurses, technicians, and support staff.
Participate in ongoing education, training, and competency development for staff.
Ensure adherence to policies, safety protocols, and risk management processes.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and committees.
Ensure the utilization and adoption of all ASC electronic platforms to maximize their benefits.
Assume the responsibility of the facility Administrator in their absence
Education and Experience:
Accredited nursing school graduate with current state nursing license.
3-5 years of experience in nursing and management experience, must have experience within an ambulatory surgery setting.
BLS and ACLS certifications
Experience with regulatory and accreditation surveys (CMS, Joint Commission/AAAHC Accreditation)
Knowledge in CMS, OSHA, Accreditation, and AORN Standards.
Experience with performance improvement initiatives
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize and direct staff effectively.
Knowledge of clinical care standards, patient safety, and risk management.
Ability to handle emergencies and ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines.
Working Conditions:
- The ability to lift and transfer patients weighing over 100 pounds, which may involve pushing, pulling, and utilizing a full range of motion.
Indoor clinical environment with potential exposure to hazards.
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl.

Compensation: $120,000 - $200,000/year
