This multi-faceted role combines administrative excellence with human resources, finance, payroll, attendance tracking, benefits administration, and occasional front-desk reception & bar coverage. You will play a critical role in keeping our team of barbers and lounge staff running smoothly so we can focus on delivering outstanding guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & Administration
- Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time
- Track employee hours, attendance, time-off requests, and PTO
- Maintain accurate records of tardiness, absences, and overtime
- Reconcile time clock data and resolve any discrepancies
- Reconcile banking transactions for bookkeepers to close books monthly
- Manage and complete annual renewal applications for barbershop & bar licenses
- Assist with ordering and maintaining office & barbershop supplies as well as retail products & merchandise
- Prepare reports as needed for the owner and management team
- Track and maintain required certifications and training records (barber licenses, food handlers permit, etc.)
- Assist with new hire onboarding, including paperwork, background checks, and system setup
- Post new positions on our applicant tracking system and other related recruiting platforms.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary benefits
- Manage benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for HR and employee benefits questions and issues
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies
- Support performance reviews, disciplinary documentation, and termination processes
- Greet guests warmly and professionally when covering the front desk
- Answer phones, book appointments, and manage walk-ins
- Provide excellent customer service and help maintain the upscale, welcoming atmosphere of Scissors & Scotch
- Make drinks for guests and clients
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, HR, or equivalent experience
- Payroll & HR Knowledge: Ability to process payroll and handling basic HR functions, including benefits administration
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfort learning new software (payroll/HRIS systems, scheduling tools, etc.)
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong time management, and ability to prioritize tasks
- Interpersonal Skills: Friendly, professional demeanor with excellent communication skills
- Availability: Hybrid position. Each shop must be visited weekly to meet with employees and address any questions/issue. Must be available to cover the lounge when short staff, as needed, including weekends. This position is not M-F as the shops are open 7 days a week.
- TABC: Must obtain a TABC server permit within 30 days of hire.
