What are the responsibilities and job description for the Applications Engineering - Accessories & OEM Specialist position at TRIANGLE PACKAGE MACHINERY CO?
This position will be responsible for managing two revenue streams. First, managing Accessory orders and second OEM bag machines (Elwin and JDD’s).
Accessory Orders: Once an Accessory order has been received by the Aftermarket department, it will be the responsibility of The Accessory Order Application Engineer to manage the order throughout the order cycle. This includes reviewing the order in detail with the Aftermarket Group to ensure a full understanding of the order requirements, set realistic delivery dates based on all demand requirements.
OEM Bag Machines (Elwin and JDD):
Enabling sales growth and efficient delivery of machines by providing technical sales support and managing OEM bag machine projects (ELWIN & JDD) from the opportunity phase through delivery and commissioning. Understanding customer needs in relation to Triangle’s capabilities to assist sales representatives in selecting the right product for the application and delivering machines that meet customer expectations. Prepares OEM bag machine sales quotations and translates customer needs into actionable plans and specifications, manages machine sales orders, and ensures that sales staff and customers are informed on project status.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Accessory orders: Manage the orders from sales entry through final checkout.
- OEM Sales: Assist in qualification of new prospects and projects, facilitating product evaluations and testing as necessary as they apply to the JRPM Pouch Fillers and ELWIN VFFS Bag Machine.
- Using the configurator, price book, and other reference information, prepares new machine quotes, ensuring consistent use of Triangle’s standards, accurate description of customer needs, and good alignment with customer application requirements.
- Proactively manage OEM bagger and Accessory projects, interface with sales staff, coordinate discussions with OEM customers, manage sales order expectations, clarify information, and ultimately ensure common understanding between customers, sales representatives, engineering, production, and service teams.
- Process sales order changes by gathering change request information, preparing change quotes as necessary, and publishing change orders to internal teams and the customer.
- Review and/or modify line layouts and die lines. Create technical presentations and written communication that convey application requirements for customer projects, new machine orders, and Triangle’s future equipment offerings.
- Support the sales team by representing Triangle Package Machinery Co. at OEM customer visits, kick off meetings, IFATs and FATs, ensuring that relevant notes and technical information are well documented, and action items are promptly communicated and managed through completion.
- Ensure full project documentation is archived and organized, including communication records, customer approvals, notes, photos, videos, and other project data.
- Facilitate customer meetings, both virtually and on-site, with occasional travel required (approximately 15%).

Specialization:
The Applications Engineering group is multidisciplinary in nature, and individual applications engineers are expected to specialize in one or more of the following areas:
- Applications knowledge for Triangle’s products including VFFS baggers, flex one cartoners, or combination weighing systems, including an understanding of Triangle’s offerings, customer needs for various industries, and knowledge of the competition.
- Application knowledge for auxiliary equipment which Triangle sources from other companies, such as cup fillers, augers, OEM combination weighers, code daters, conveyance systems, and check weighers.
- Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) with UGNX or AutoCAD for use in line layouts, preparing technical proposals, and executing feasibility evaluations for Triangle and partner equipment.
- Film testing and demonstrations, including hand and machine-made sample bags and coordinating with service or R&D for access to test resources.
- Price book and application configuration maintenance.
- Knowledge of safety, sanitation, and electrical codes.
- Managing and finding data in Triangle’s systems, including legacy data for machines that have been in the field for decades.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience with packaging, food processing, or similar automation equipment in a sales or technical capacity.
- Experience or ability to learn UGNX and/or AutoCAD software to create or make changes to machine line layouts and package design die lines, or otherwise present technical details as customer needs require it.
- Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels in the organization. This includes being skilled at written and verbal technical communication, with the ability to identify and clarify missing information or unclear requirements proactively.
- Proficiency with MS office products and experience or ability to learn Microsoft Dynamics ERP and ARAS PLM computer systems.
- Experience with CRM software.
- Track record of establishing positive working relationships with customers.
Engagement:
- Employee will be communicating with a wide range of contacts. Most importantly, the employee will represent the company during in-person and remote meetings with customers. Additionally, this individual must be comfortable proactively finding information by communicating with contacts in sales, engineering, purchasing, service, assemblers, marketing, accounting, and with Triangle customers.
- Leadership skills and promotion of a teamwork-focused environment will be critical to the role. Candidates should also demonstrate an ability to self-start solution plans to existing problems and explore all resources available that might enable those solutions.
Education:
A college degree with a technical or business background is preferred.

Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
