Purpose:
This is a hands-on, full-cycle accounting role responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial records. The position supports all aspects of accounting, including tracking assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and sales and use tax obligations. The Staff Accountant performs research and analysis to support timely and accurate monthly financial reporting. This role plays a key part in supporting a growing organization by ensuring financial accuracy and providing insights that drive business decisions.
***This is a fully on-site position requiring daily in-person attendance at the work location. Candidates must be able to work on-site***
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Cash, Credit Cards & Forecasting
· Perform daily bank reconciliations
· Prepare Weekly Cash Projections
· Manage, review policy requirements, and reconcile all credit card transactions in the expense management tool
General Ledger management, Reconciliations & Job Costing
· Perform detailed monthly balance sheet reconciliations for two companies
· Maintain accuracy and integrity of general ledger activity
· Investigate and resolve discrepancies
· Prepare and enter journal entries and monthly accruals with proper approvals
· Month-end payroll accruals
· Weekly/Monthly Job costing reviews and variance analyses
· Accountable to complete all assigned month end tasks, meeting the month end close deadline
· Create and maintain fixed assets and associated property and use taxes, and work closely with the Procurement department on maintaining locations of assets
· Work closely with the Procurement team to ensure proper recording of inventory purchases and usage.
· Prepare monthly concrete billing accruals and track expenses based on percentage of completion.
Compliance & Tax
· File and remit multi-state sales/use tax through Avalara
· Manage and maintain the sales tax setup in Avalara and ERP system
· Monitor Nexus and support new state registrations
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
· Prepare and analyze monthly financial reporting, including identifying trends and explaining variances to the budget
· Review trends and explain budget variances
· Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data posted in the general ledger.
· Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial transactions in accordance with GAAP
· Prepare monthly commission and quarterly bonus calculations and submit to payroll for payment
Cross-Functional & Operational Support
· Assist with acquisition transitions
· Responsible for process documentation for all accounting procedures.
