Successful Candidates Will Be Expected To
- Safely load and unload inbound and outbound materials, including H-Beam and sheet piling, using 15-ton (30,000 lb.) forklifts.
- Operate large sit-down forklifts to transport and position heavy materials throughout the facility, warehouse, and yard.
- Load and unload steel products from flatbed trucks.
- Maintain accurate material locations throughout the facility and yard.
- Verify and maintain heat numbers, material identification, and load documentation.
- Perform routine operator-level maintenance and daily inspections of forklifts and material-handling equipment.
- Identify equipment damage or potential mechanical issues and report them for maintenance or repair.
- Plan and optimize travel routes throughout the warehouse and yard to improve operational efficiency.
- Assist with inventory management and maintain accurate data collection to ensure inventory integrity.
- Follow all company and OSHA safety requirements and maintain a safe, orderly, and clean work environment.
- Perform basic housekeeping and ensure work areas are free of debris and other hazards.
- Follow established procedures for reporting material overages, shortages, and damages.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred
- Proven experience as a large forklift operator
- Ability to operate both large and medium sized sit-down fork trucks with large loads.
- (Forklift Certification will be provided by trainer and is required of all warehouse employees)
- Strong attention to detail
- Basic mathematical skills
- Knowledge of industrial equipment and material handling practices.
- Ability to read a tape measure
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work effectively in an outdoor yard and industrial environment.
- Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
