What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Rental Specialist position at Triad Equipment / True Value Rental?
Job Description
Looking for a job? Are you comfortable working in a rapid-paced environment? Are you good with people? Are you a hands-on, D-I-Y kind of person? Do you enjoy doing projects around the home? Are you as comfortable at a computer keyboard as you are operating a chainsaw or leaf blower? If so, we may have the perfect job for you.
We are hiring a person to join our team working both our Equipment Rental and Sales Counter and our equipment yard. This is not a sit-behind-a-desk job. You'll split your time between helping customers at the counter and working hands-on in the yard with the machines themselves.
What You'll Do
At the counter:
- Greet customers, write up rental contracts and sales tickets, and process payments
- Answer phones and help customers choose the right equipment for their project
- Schedule rentals, check equipment in and out, and keep accurate records at the computer
In the yard:
- Load and unload equipment for customers — this includes moving and lifting machinery, sometimes with help from a forklift, ramps, or a second set of hands
- Walk customers through their rental before they leave: how to start it, run it safely, and what to avoid — you'll be the person who makes sure they drive off confident with the machine
- Perform light repairs and upkeep on rental equipment: checking fluids, replacing spark plugs and air filters, sharpening or swapping blades and chains, fueling, and cleaning machines between rentals
- Inspect equipment when it comes back and flag anything that needs the shop's attention
- Keep the yard organized, safe, and presentable
The more hands-on experience you have doing projects around the home or in construction, the better suited for this job you could be. If this description fits you, this job may be perfect for you. We are actively looking to hire someone bilingual.
Physical Requirements
- Able to regularly lift 50 lbs and assist with moving heavy equipment
- Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons
- On your feet for much of the day
Pay & Schedule
Payscale $16 to $20 per hour. Compensation is dependent on experience and skills. Competitive Pay. Generally 25–35 hours per week, all daytime hours. Every other Saturday is required.
