Position Overview

Triad Engineering Solutions is seeking an Industrial Piping Designer to support industrial piping engineering and design efforts. This position will primarily be involved with designing large-scale piping distribution systems at large industrial and manufacturing facilities, but it may also involve 3D scanning and reality capture of these types of facilities. The successful candidate will have experience with large piping distribution systems (steam, condensate, water, compressed air, etc.), pumps, compressors, control valves, etc. This position requires the candidate to work closely with engineers and other designers to develop detailed piping design drawings. This position may require some travel (approximately 5-6 times a year for about week at a time).

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site visits at large industrial facilities to inspect existing equipment, document existing conditions, record equipment nameplate information, measure critical dimensions, etc.
• Assist with 3D point cloud “reality capture” scanning of existing facilities, processing the scans, and converting the point clouds into 3D piping drawings.
• Work with engineers and other designers to develop AutoCAD drawings such as plans, elevations, pipe support details, equipment pad details, piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), etc.
• Attend client meetings and represent Triad Engineering Solutions with professionalism

Qualifications / Experience

• Approximately 5 years of experience working with industrial piping distribution systems
• Familiarity with a variety of fluid systems (water, air, steam, etc.), piping joining systems (butt weld, socket weld, threaded, flanged, grooved, etc.), and piping materials (steel, ductile iron, HDPE, etc.)
• Ability to identify various types of valves and piping components
• Ability to work well with others
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in the use of CAD software (AutoCAD preferred)
• Proficient in the use of MS Office applications (email, Word, Excel, etc.)
• Ability to multi-task, coordinate with other team members, and prioritize multiple projects
• Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn
• Comfortable working in an industrial facility environment
• Ability to pass a background check
• Ability to reliably report to our office in Carrollton, VA on a daily basis

Salary Range

$25 – $35 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
