Our well-established client, producing innovative consumer products, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to own the manufacturing system: drive yield, throughput, and cost down through process design, controls, and standard work.
The Manufacturing Engineer will translate product designs into reliable and efficient production processes through standard work development, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives. This includes designing and optimizing fixtures, tools, and equipment, conducting time studies and process capability analysis, and leading Lean and SMED efforts. The role bridges collaboration between Design, Operations, and Quality teams to resolve manufacturability issues, reduce costs, and enhance process reliability. The Manufacturing Engineer also works closely with suppliers to qualify materials and tooling, provides on-the-floor technical support, and ensures consistent, high-quality production aligned with the company’s mission and standards.
Responsibilities will include:
- Build, improve, and document production processes (DFM/DFA, line layout, workcells).
- Establish SPC/Cp/Cpk and process KPIs; monitor and react daily.
- Lead SMED, bottleneck removal, and flow/line-balancing projects.
- Create/maintain Standard Work, SOPs, and training materials for the floor and the lab.
- Plan and execute process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) and PFMEA.
- Own time studies/labor analysis; set takt and staffing models.
- Drive cost reduction (scrap, rework, cycle time) with data-backed A3s.
- Lead equipment specification, installation, qualification, and PM plans.
- Partner with Design Engineering on DFM/DFA, fixtures, and ramp-to-rate.
- Support daily ops tickets; triage issues and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate vendor/line readiness for new or transferred products.
- Keep compliance in view (UL/CE requirements flowing into the process).
Background profile:
- BS in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).
- 5–8 yrs in discrete manufacturing (low-to-mid volume assembly experience preferred).
- Proven SPC, PFMEA, validation, SMED, time-study experience.
Experience in integrating new automation and creating new processes helpful.
- Comfortable with design of internal use tooling and fixtures.
- Experience working at an original equipment manufacturer
- Tools: Excel/Sheets, Epicor (ERP), Jira, Minitab (or equivalent), Solidworks
Salary : $112,000 - $125,000
