JOB DESCRIPTION

TRIA Orthopedics is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our new Pre-surgical Optimization Program team. Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day.


Position Summary:


In this role, you will play a vital part in assisting patients to improve modifiable health risk factors (e.g., weight, A1C, smoking status, skin conditions, etc.) prior to hip replacement, knee replacement, or spine surgery. Patient care will be delivered through direct interactions, as well as by phone and virtual check-ins. The Registered Nurse will collaborate closely with an Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) to provide comprehensive care for pre-surgical optimization patients. The RN will also contribute to the development and refinement of program workflows, as this is a new program offering.

Key tasks of the RN Pre-surgical optimization role:

  • Identify and assess patients’ medical complexity to support individualized care planning.
  • Evaluate patient activation levels and deliver tailored education and support based on each patient’s readiness and needs.
  • Motivate and encourage patients throughout the optimization process, fostering engagement and adherence to care plans.
  • Educate patients about the importance of optimization and the impact of their specific medical complexities on post-surgical outcomes.


Utilizes a systematic approach to nursing practice incorporating assessment, planning, nursing, diagnosis, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with the nurse Practice Act, recognized professional standards and Park Nicollet Health Services policy. Accountability for the quality of care delivered, recognizing the limits of knowledge and experience; addressing situations beyond the nurse’s competency; and performing to the level of education, knowledge, and skill ordinarily expected of an individual who has completed an approved professional nursing education program. Supports multiple areas within a clinic setting with strong interpersonal skill and flexibility while maintaining patient confidentiality and protecting patient rights. Promotes a safe and therapeutic environment of care and advocates for the best interests of individual patients. Resolves concerns or complaints regarding patient care or service.


Work Schedule:

.60 FTE, Variable hybrid position Monday through Friday 8-5pm


Required Qualifications:

  • Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

    • Graduated from a school of nursing.
      • Associate degree/diploma or higher required.

  • Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

    • Maintain a current state certified registered nurse’s licensure.
    • BLS provider status in accordance with American Heart Association (AHA), or American Red Cross guidelines.

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development necessary to provide appropriate care to the patient population served.
    • Possesses the qualities of strong critical thinking skills and ability to multitask.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

    • 1 year of prior experience in nursing preferred.
