General Description:
Tri-Valley Regional Occupational Program (TVROP) is looking for a talented, high school Automotive Specialist instructor, who is ready to use their industry experience to shape our next generation workforce. TVROP serves the Dublin, Livermore Valley Joint, and Pleasanton Unified School Districts, providing high school students with high-quality programs focused on ensuring students are able to earn a career by choice, not by chance. Our local business, industry, and college partnerships help instructors engage students in application-based learning to connect students beyond the walls of the classroom.
In this role, you will:
- Teach automotive repair and maintenance skills (beginner to advanced) in a shop/classroom setting
- Develop engaging, hands-on lessons aligned with industry standards
- Collaborate with other CTE instructors on integrated, real-world projects
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and career-focused learning environment
- Support student growth, skill development, and career readiness
Qualifications
Required:
- Industry experience in automotive diagnostics, repair, and maintenance
- Strong knowledge of engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems
- Passion for working with and mentoring high school students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage a classroom/shop environment
Preferred:
- Teaching experience or interest in transitioning into education
- Career Technical Education (CTE) credential or willingness to obtain one
- Experience working with youth or training others
Additional Responsibilities:
- Possess a valid California driver's license
- Have a strong interest in teaching high school students who are seeking a career in the Automotive Maintenance and Service industry
- Have the ability to teach beginning, intermediate and advanced automotive skills in an automotive shop environment
- Collaborate with the Auto Body and Collision Repair instructor to provide integrated, hands-on projects
- Oversee and administer Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) tests and certifications
