What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural and Flatwork Concrete Finishing Technician position at Tri State Paving and Sealcoating?

If you take pride in perfect finishes and safe, efficient work, this role is for you. You’ll be the go-to for forming, finishing, reinforcement, and clean, precise cuts across a variety of projects—from sidewalks and curbs to flatwork, walls, and pillars.
Your core impact
- Finish poured concrete (driveways, walks, sidewalks, roads, curbs) with hand/power tools
- Set and align forms for sidewalks, curbs/gutters, walls, pillars; ensure proper pitch and depth
- Level surfaces using wooden and aluminum screeds
- Use finishing tools: floats, trowels, edgers, brooms, and more
- Introduce reinforcement (rebar or wire mesh) and place expansion joints
- Execute saw cuts in concrete and, when required, asphalt
- Judge slump accurately; calculate requirements and coordinate concrete orders
- Clean and strip forms correctly; maintain a neat, secure site daily
- Adhere to safety policies; use appropriate tools and equipment for each task
- Wear required PPE at all times
- Perform strenuous manual labor on heavy highway and other construction work
- Operate trucks or moving equipment as needed
- Handle shoveling, raking concrete, and heavy lifting as part of the job
- Take on additional duties as required or assigned
