Job Description

Responsible for the supervision of maintenance employees and maintenance activities at Craig Station. Prepares, assigns, and directs the work of maintenance employees to ensure completion of work in a safe, efficient manner. Evaluates and troubleshoots systems and equipment to determine required repairs. Coordinates the work and maintains effective working relationships with other functional areas and outside contacts concerning equipment, work needs and outages.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safety via work product and by personal example.
  • Learn and apply the Krause-Bell Principles for a safe workplace.
  • Prepare, assign, and direct the work of maintenance employees in a manner that ensures the safe completion of work in an efficient manner within approved budget limits.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot systems and equipment to determine required repairs.
  • Coordinate the work and maintain effective working relationships with other functional areas and outside contacts concerning equipment, work needs and outages.
  • Assist the planning and scheduling group in arranging for parts and tools, using stock material and supply, and purchase requisitions.
  • Ensure maintenance records and status reports are accurate and complete to ensure consistency of plant maintenance activities.
  • Ensure safe working conditions through the proper administration of necessary clearance orders, confined space entry permits, hot work permits, and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
  • Administer training, safety, and performance evaluations programs to ensure employee safety and qualified work­force.
  • Complete administrative duties including daily and monthly logs, forms, OT lists, payroll computer entry, LMS, and work order processing.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental protection and pollution prevention regulations and procedures
  • Adhere to and demonstrate compliance with appropriate electric utility industry regulatory requirements.Attain knowledge and remain knowledgeable of development in regulations, laws, standards and best practices applicable to the functional area including, but not limited to, Standards of Conduct, Environmental, Employment Law, NERC Reliability Standards and Safety.Must be familiar with, and comply with, all aspects of Corporate Policy C-54, Compliance.

  • Because Tri-State has an obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to its customers, the ability to work over the standard 10-hrs per day at any time of the day or week is considered an essential function of the job.

Qualifications

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education And Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent.High school level math and English skills.(Additional relevant and sufficient education and/or training may supplement the experience requirement listed below if the experience requirement is not fully met.)

Knowledge, Skills, And Ability

  • Knowledge of power plant corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Working knowledge of safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to organize and direct the work of others.
  • Ability to effectively communicate; both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interpret and administer labor agreements.
  • Must be able to demonstrate that he/she can perform all of the essential functions of the position.
  • Working knowledge of safety policies and procedures.

Experience

  • Five (5) years ofpower plant maintenance experience, or equivalent experience.

Other

  • Willingness to be "on call" and travel, as required (Must possess a valid driver’s license).
  • Must be able to demonstrate that he/she can perform all of the essential functions of the position.

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is required to sit and stand, occasionally walk, stoop, bend, climb stairs and ladders, reach above and below shoulder level up to 50 lbs. and occasionally push/pull objects up to 300 lbs.Incumbent is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, talk and hear. Incumbent must have finger dexterity, good vision, good color vision, good hearing, and ability to speak clearly, and handle intricate work.
  • Mental demands: While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is required to read, write, perform basic math, exercise judgment, develop plans, procedures and goals, and present information to others and work under pressure.
  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is occasionally exposed to dust and power plant voltage level electrical risks and works around large industrial operating equipment.
