Lube Technician duties and responsibilities
Tri State Ford has an urgent need for Lube Technicians to assist customers with low-level service requests including oil changes and other fluid replacements. Their job is to quickly and professionally complete the maintenance tasks customers need to be performed to get safely back on the road. The main priority of a Lube Technician is to provide quality maintenance to vehicles, helping to build confidence in the company and garner lifelong customer relationships. Many of our best Tech began their career as a Lube Technician.
Their duties and responsibilities include:
- Draining the oil from a vehicle and replacing it to manufacturer specifications
- Topping off other fluids, including brake, power steering and windshield wiper fluid
- Inspecting the engine block and underbody for leaks and potential issues
- Checking tire pressure, filling tires with air as needed, and rotate tires to manufacturer specifications
- Installing new car parts, such as air filters, oil filters, windshield wipers and batteries
- Lubricating moving parts as necessary, including those in the engine and wheel bearings and ensuring the engine is kept clean throughout servicing
- Diagnosing existing issues and consulting with lead mechanics on the team to address the vehicles’ issues
- Creating detailed service reports for customers
Experience
- Vehicle maintenance experience - lube technicians operate multiple types of vehicles and perform many vehicle maintenance tasks, which requires good mechanical ability
- Driving skills - lube technicians must know how to operate manual and automatic transmissions and drive multiple types of vehicles, which requires strong driving skills
- Physical fitness - lube technicians need strength and stamina to work while standing, stooping, squatting, bending, crawling, and lying down
- Time management - lube technicians use time management to working a fast-paced environment and complete maintenance tasks quickly and efficiently
- Customer service - lube technicians interact with customers regarding maintenance and vehicle needs, so employers seek candidates with strong customer service skills
- Attention to detail - oil technicians use attention to detail to perform all tasks precisely and safely
It is highly recommended that the candidate have their own tool set; however, company will support on a promising committed employee. A valid drivers license is required
